Planning approval was received in 2023 and we look forward to the progression of this project on site. Grayling Thomas Architects worked closely with Chadwick Town Planning during the pre-application and detailed planning application for the site. The unique features of the building are being retained, such as the hangar doors and external metal cladding in order to retain the simplicity of the original structure. In addition, new elements are being introduced into the conversion to make this into a stunning family home and these include inset balconies at roof level, double height spaces internally and retractable fins to the side of the property to limit solar overheating. The new design will be built to passivhaus or equivalent standards making it a low carbon in use building, extremely energy efficient and with low maintenance costs.
