Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is a highly successful Sixth Form College based in Eastleigh in Hampshire with over 4,000 students on role currently. The proposed new Business School comprises 29 classrooms and measures approximately 31,000 sq ft.
The building is intended as a gateway for the campus, providing a new reception area with student and staff facilities over 3 floors.
The design of the new building takes reference from the existing college campus and this includes the use of pre-patinated copper, Staffordshire blue brickwork, through coloured render, powder coated windows and doors. In addition, the school’s own logo uses an off-green (teal) colour throughout the campus, and this has been incorporated into the glass panels of the building.
The new Business School comprises:
The 3 storey Business School steps down to 2 storeys to form a new Main Entrance to the College. Above the main entrance is a landscaped terrace which will be used for additional outdoor study Environmental- The new building is heated by a Ground Source Heat Pump located in the adjacent college playing fields. In addition the building follows a ‘fabric first’ approach to insulation and airtightness as well as having a large array of solar PV’s to the South facing roof.
The building is designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
