Easter house, Southwark

Residential

Our successful planning application gained consent for the redevelopment of a former, Doctor’s surgery, to design and build a five-storey façade and a set-back, sixth storey which accommodates a two-floor penthouse apartment. The new building responds to the challenges of a corner site, surrounded by existing housing.

The building has a single accommodation staircase and a lift up to the nine apartments. The ground floor apartments are designed on two levels to negate the flood risk to bedrooms. All of the apartments are designed to Code 4, for sustainable homes and are extremely energy efficient and airtight.

The penthouse is the pinnacle of the project, with 360 degree, panoramic views of London, both from the penthouse itself and its own private, grassed roof terrace.

The brickwork to the building is offset with timber boarding to the balcony terraces, which also incorporate slatted, privacy screens to the adjoining neighbours.

The site straddles the Metropolitan line underground and the engineering solution involves GPS precision pile foundations.
