Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, located in Eastleigh, Hampshire, is a highly successful institution with over 4,000 students currently enrolled. The proposed new Business School will include 29 classrooms and span approximately 31,000 square feet.


Intended as a gateway for the campus, the new building will feature a reception area with student and staff facilities spread over three floors.


The design of the building reflects the existing campus architecture, incorporating materials such as pre-patinated copper, Staffordshire blue brickwork, through-coloured render, and powder-coated windows and doors. The school's logo, which features an off-green (teal) color, is integrated into the glass panels of the building.


The new Business School will include:
 
• 29 classrooms equipped to deliver Business Studies at A Level 
 
• Seminar rooms, student study zone/library areas, staff work rooms/administrative offices, group tutorial space, and reception
 
• Additional social space and administrative space
 
• Roof terrace study area
 

The three-story Business School steps down to two stories to form a new main entrance to the College. Above the main entrance, there is a landscaped terrace for outdoor study.


Environmental considerations include heating the building with a Ground Source Heat Pump located in the adjacent college playing fields. The building also follows a ‘fabric first’ approach to insulation and airtightness and features a large array of solar PV panels on the south-facing roof. The design aims to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
